The summer of 2020 was different for everyone. For me, it was a time of change, love, frustration, understanding, and growth. I stayed with my partner of 1 year at the time. I contemplated time, vulnerability, boundaries. I laughed and cried, felt brave and scared, indestructible one moment and so fragile the next.
I made things out of pure inspiration rather than assignments.
These are some of the works that came out of that time.

Delicate Boy, 23.5" x 16"x 2", lace, ink, wood, 2020

Has there been a time when you looked at a person and was in awe of how delicate they were in that moment? Did you feel like you wanted to show everyone the beauty but also hide and protect it at the same time?
Being delicate and vulnerable in front of another person is incredibly beautiful and powerful. As a gaze is shared between you and my partner, reflect on who you share your delicate side with. Who in your life would you like to be more vulnerable with you? How can you earn that vulnerability?
Exhibited in Loving Wyoming at the Wyoming Fine Arts Center in 2021.

touched, 13.5" x 9.5"x 5.75", glazed ceramic, 2020

"I love you still when you are far from me
I love you more when you are near"

The words of my partner carved into my body
Drifting around my torso

The black remnant of a hand
Touched, loved, cared for, longing

Not Dirty, 25" x 27", found T-shirt, embroidery floss, 2020

"I'm not dirty
just stained"
Everyone has a past and these pasts leave marks on us. That doesn't make anyone ruined or unloveable. Our pasts inform our presents and futures, and continue to be a part of who we are.
